FAQ
Do I need Square?
No. CrumbCount works on its own: you record sales, batches and deliveries yourself. Connecting Square (Pro) just makes sales automatic.
Which Square plan do I need?
Any, including Square’s free plan.
Square has recipe costing now. Why use CrumbCount?
Square’s ingredient tracking is in beta on its paid restaurant plans, and it doesn’t support a recipe inside a recipe. Most bakeries and cafés need that: a sauce, dough or base that goes into several products. CrumbCount handles sub-recipes, made-ahead batches and landed costs like freight and duty, and it works on every Square plan.
Can I import my existing spreadsheet?
Yes. Import your ingredients and recipes from CSV. We’ll help you get it right during early access.
How does receipt reading work?
Take a photo or upload the PDF. CrumbCount reads the supplier, items, quantities, prices, freight and tax, then shows you a draft. Nothing is saved until you check it.
Does it handle HST?
Yes. If your business is registered for GST/HST and recovers the tax it pays on supplies, turn that on and tax stays out of your costs. If not, tax is part of your real cost, and CrumbCount includes it. Check with your accountant which applies to you.
Can I use it for more than one location?
One location per business for now. You can belong to more than one business with the same login.
Where is my data stored?
In encrypted databases hosted in the United States. You can export your data or delete your business at any time.
Is it in French?
Not yet. It’s on our list.
Can I cancel?
Anytime. The Free plan stays free.
Who’s behind CrumbCount?
A software engineer and a dessert-shop owner in London, Ontario, building the tool they needed themselves.
